This course is designed for General Practitioners who wish to improve their knowledge of or perform more minor oral
surgeries. This all-day lecture course enables general practioners to expand their oral surgery knowledge and better
understand and manage complications and dento-alveolar surgical procedures.
Points of Discussion:
• The “Art” mandibular Block. A refreshing, new successful approach to accomplishing Regional Anesthesia
by blocking the 3rd division of 5th nerve
• Anxiety control for apprehensive surgery patients
• Ridge preparation for immediate dentures
• Surgical removal of Tori, cysts, and erupted molars
• Surgical removal of hyperplastic tissue
• Frenectomies
• Incisional/excisional biopsies
• Surgical removal of Incision and drainage in general dentistry office
• Discussion of antibiotic usage
• Surgical removal of semi-impacted and non-impacted wisdom teeth.
• Bleeding management during surgery
• The most common suturing techniques and materials
• Post-op considerations, including appropriate use of analgesics, antibiotics and sedatives
Upon Completion Practitioners Should be Able to:
• Apply effective local anesthesia techniques for different minor oral surgery procedures
• Perform pre-operative patient evaluation and assess different extraction situations
• Perform atraumatic extractions
• Remove broken root tips utilizing proven and simple surgical methods
• Perform different flap designs for various surgical procedures
• Be more proficient at ridge preparation for immediate dentures
• Prevent and/or manage bleeding problems that can occur during oral surgery
• Manage post surgical complications
